Top 10 A/W Nail Polishes

Hi guys! ♥

As we transition from Summer to Autumn (or Fall as some people may call it) I thought why not do a post on my favourite nail polishes for the Autumn and Winter months?! Obviously there's lots of nail polishes I love for the Winter months but I decided to keep it short and just choose ten of them ☺

I don't know about you but, personally I LOVE Autumn. I love all the wine, berry and dark green colours that hibernate in my make-up draws throughout the summer! There's nothing I love more than sitting in my pj's snuggled up on the sofa watching the soaps, yes I practically grannify myself in these months and I'm not ashamed to admit to it.

Anyway enough of my ramblings, here are my top 10 A/W nail polishes and a bit about them!

In order, starting with my absolute favourite:

1. 17 Supreme Shine in Mink

This polish may seem boring to some but to me it's beautiful. The shade Mink is best described as a coffee colour with slight purple undertones, personally I think it should be called coffee! I highly recommend the 17 Supreme Shine nail polishes the shade range is outstanding, think of a colour and 17 have got it! I just recommend them as a whole brand if I'm honest with you, and actually I am planning on doing a separate blog post on the 17 or as they are now SEVENTEEN brand and my favourite products because I really do love them. Anyway, the polish claims to last up to 10 days and I'm pleased to say I 100% agree with this. This is one of the only polishes I actually keep on my nails for more than 4 days which is amazing, after 10 days of wearing this it still looks neat with slight peeling at the top of the nail (and I mean very slight, barely noticeable).

The picture which I have taken of my nail polish is different to the ones in store because SEVENTEEN have rebranded all their packaging so the bottles are slightly different but they still do the 'Mink' shade thank goodness!

2. BarryM Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint in Blackberry

My very first Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint from BarryM, this colour is lovely. As you'll see from the pictures and the name of the product it is indeed a blackberry colour, shocking I know would've never guessed that?! It's the most gorgeous deep purple with a hint of black and very dark blue undertones, this shade looks sophisticated and as with all BarryM Gelly polishes lasts ages on the nails, doesn't require a topcoat, looks salon professional, and application is easy. The only thing I will say about this is you definitely need a base coat underneath this polish because it will stain, something I find with all BarryM polishes but if you're like me then you'll use one all the time anyway! For those of you who don't know my favourite base coat is the Revlon Quick Dry basecoat.

3. Models Own Mystic Mauve

Oh. My. Gosh. This nail polish is the most beautiful product I have ever come across. I'm a huge fan of Models Own nail polishes and own an unhealthy amount of them, which I guess is a good thing because it must mean they're good! Mystic Mauve is a purple shimmer polish, perfect for winter because it reminds me of Christmas! Although I do cheekily wear this in the Autumn months too because it is just that great, it's leave such a frosty finish on the nails and I just love it so much. The only bad thing I have to say about this is the staying power. Models Own nail polishes are 99.9% of the time consistent with their amazing staying power, however I've found that you do get the odd shade which chips a lot more than the majority of them but with a top coat I can make it last 3 days tops; not too bad but not brilliant either. Nevertheless I still ♥ it!

4. BarryM Nail Paint in Fuchsia

This nail polish holds a very big space in my heart. It was my first EVER nail purchase which is probably why I'm so attached to it even to this day. As you can probably guess this nail paint is a fuchsia colour, a lovely deep pink and although pink doesn't seem a very wintery colour it does edge towards the berry side of the colour scale so it had to make an appearance in my top 10. There's not a lot else I can say about this polish other than the staying power's good, it's easy to remove and all that stuff so I'll just let the picture speak for itself.

5. Rimmel London Precious Stones polish in 001 Diamond Dust

This nail polish is SO festive, absolutely perfect to wear at Christmas time! It's a full coverage glitter, something you very rarely find in the nail polish world. The shade 'Diamond Dust' is a grey polish with very fine glitters which are all the colours of the colour spectrum! I love this nail polish and always get lovely comments whenever I wear it. The only problem with this polish is it's an absolute pain to take off so expect to get frustrated when trying to do so! so far there are only two polishes in the Precious Stones range the other one being 'Ruby Crush' which is a mixture of red and silver glitters- the perfect Christmas polish! Who knows maybe Rimmel will bring out more Precious Stones polishes this year?

6. BarryM Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint- Pomegranate

Yet another BarryM Nail Paint, again from their well loved Gelly Hi-Shine range. The shade 'Pomegranate' is a favourite of mine especially in the Autumn/Winter months; it's the most gorgeous raspberry colour and looks sophisticated on the nails. If you're the sort of person who shy's away from bold red nail colours this is the perfect alternative, it's not too bright and has a more pink tone to it. As with all the Gelly Nail Paints it's opaque within one coat, dries fast, it lasts ages on the nails. It's perfect!

7. Models Own- Black Swirl

This is such an interesting polish, I bought this last winter. I've always been a little scared of black nail polish because I think it seems really harsh and well a bit dull and boring. However, when I saw this polish I was intrigued. It's black with silver/white shimmers in it. It's absolutely beautiful and a great colour for the colder months, I always get asked what I'm wearing on my nails when I'm wearing this. You do need 2 coats to make it opaque and the staying power is ok but more prolonged with a top coat and base coat.

8. 17 Supreme Shine in Risky Red

Ok so the name is pretty self explanatory. Every girl should have a bold red nail polish in their collection and this is my only true red; Risky Red by 17. It looks gorgeous on any skin tone, lasts ages on the nails with barely any chips or peelings after a week! It's perfect for the Christmas months as we all know red is a festive shade and one which we all associate with Christmas and the great thing is you only need one coat with this- amazing! The only thing I will say is you definitely need a base coat with this polish as it will stain, I've found this out for myself.

9. BarryM Nail Paint in Cobalt

Another of my very first nail polish purchases, this shade is a lovely cobalt blue (as the name suggests) and is my go-to A/W nail polish. If I can't decide on a shade this is what I turn to, in my opinion you can't go wrong with a dark blue in the colder months. I wouldn't call this a navy nail polish because it isn't (but if you do want a navy shade BarryM do sell one called 'Navy') but it is definitely going that way, personally I don't navy nail polishes so this is great for me and anyone else who isn't a big fan of navy nails! This also looks lovely on the toenails too.

10. Models Own nail polish in Pink Fever

Finally, my last top 10 A/W nail polish is Models Own Pink Fever. I love this shade so much, it's a cute pink with blue and purple undertones, perfect if you're the sort of person who doesn't like really dark shades like black or purple. I apply two coats of this with a base coat and top coat and the finish is simply beautiful, it attracts a lot of attention when I wear it! Again, this is one of the more dodgy MO polishes as in, it doesn't last very long and chips after 3 days; not bad but not brilliant either. However, I still love this to pieces.

That's it for today's post guys, I hope you all enjoyed it and be sure to leave me a comment if you've tried any of the products I talked about!

Shop My Stash

Hi everyone, I hope you're all good!

So, as you can see from the title todays post is going to be a 'Shop My Stash' blog post. If you're unfamiliar with it basically Shop My Stash is where you sort through your make up collection and find old, long forgotten products and rekindle your love for them or try to make them work for you if they haven't previously. I was inspired to do this blog post because I was sorting through my make-up draws the other day (that was a task and a half!) and found SO many products I've bought recently but just don't use because I've either stuck to my trusty favourites or they just haven't worked for me.

What I'm going to do is tell you which products I am going to try out again and add a brief description of why I don't use them or what I didn't like before then I'm going to do a 'Shop My Stash - The Results' post after one whole month of using these products and will give you my end verdict. How exciting?! So without further ado here are my findings☺

Rimmel- Hide The Blemish Concealer Stick; Ivory

I bought this concealer stick a while ago now because back in the day these were my favourite kind of concealer. I had also read very good reviews about this product, I'd seen bloggers rave about it so I thought I'd give it a go, plus Rimmel is one of my favourite make up brands! However after trying this product a few times it didn't really work for me, I applied it to blemishes like you're supposed to but it went flaky and was quite dry. I am determined to make this work for me and give it another go!

Maybelline Cover Stick Concealer; Ivory

This concealer was my absolute favourite in Secondary school and I used it every single day on blemishes and redness however, as I got older and my skin changed I found it wasn't lasting as long on my oily/combination skin type. It used to be my favourite and I'm hoping that paired with my foundation and powder I can make this work!

Seventeen Even Tone Corrector Stick

I don't know about anyone else but I rarely see bloggers use this kind of product. It's a green corrector stick to help even out any redness on the face and I bought this product as I do get a bit of redness on my cheeks, it's not so bad these days as I regularly cleanse, tone and moisturise. This product is okay however when I tried using it in the past the green tone just won't blend in and looks chalky? This is definitely something I would like to try again as I think these sort of correctors are a fantastic idea.

Models Own Beetle Juice Nail Polish; Aqua Violet Beetle Juice

I absolutely LOVE Models Own nail polishes and own far too many of them. Initially the beetle juice range looks beautiful in the bottle and the 'Aqua Violet' shade is well, an aqua violet colour? I remember using it once and instantly removing it from my nails, I hated it! Now Autumn/Winter is coming I'm determined to try this out again as it's beautiful and definitely more of an AW shade.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer; Ivory

This will come as a shock to a lot of you as the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation and Concealer is very well loved and so many people see it as the holy grail, if you may. I just cannot seem to make this work, for a start the shade Ivory is very dark but then again you are supposed to use a darker colour underneath the eyes to cancel out any blue and purple tones. The reason I have chosen this is because now the colder weather is coming I can't help thinking that my favourite 'Collection Lasting Perfection' concealer is going to be too drying in the colder months and I want something that is much more moisturising for the delicate under-eye area, I want to jump on the Wake Me Up bandwagon! (I may even invest in the foundation if I end up loving the concealer, who knows?)

BarryM Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint; Watermelon

Again, this will come as a shock to a lot of you. I am a HUMONGOUS fan of BarryM Nail Paints, especially the Gelly ones! The shade 'Watermelon' is a gorgeous dark green, perfect for the A/W months but when I applied it last year over my Revlon Quick Dry Base Coat (the one I always use) I found that it chipped very easily, I'm talking within one day! Very disappointing as the Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paints are usually so long lasting on my nails, and everyone else's by the sounds of it so maybe it's just a dodgy shade? Nevertheless, I am going to try this again with a base coat and top coat which isn't usually needed for these nail paints, and see how that works out.

Rimmel Soft Kohl Kajal Eye Liner Pencil; Jet Black

I always think that eye liner looks better in the colder months, don't ask me why? Anyway I'm one of those people who loves the black eye liner look but I always shy away from it on myself as I don't have the confidence to wear it and always think I look too done up! After getting over my fear of blusher and bronzer (that's another story!) I've decided to man up and start wearing eye liner to make my eyes look more interesting as I don't wear eye shadow on a day-to-day basis! This is a recent purchase for me and I've only tried it out on my hand so far, but it's so pigmented and glides on really nicely so fingers crossed this will work for me!

Okay so that's it for today's post, sorry for rambling on so much! Look out for my 'Shop My Stash - The Results' Post which will be posted in exactly one month as I want to give myself time to try the products out properly and there will also be pictures in the results post! Thanks for reading and be sure to look out for my next blog post, as usual all comments are welcoming in the comment box down below!
